LAKE OF THE WOODS ORIENTEERING CHALLENGE

Museum of the Grand Prairie, Lake of the Woods Forest Preserve, 9:30 AM- 2PM (12PM final departure time) 

Join the Champaign County Forest Preserve District for an orienteering event at Lake of the Woods, starting and finishing at the Museum of the Grand Prairie. Whether you're a seasoned navigator or brand new to the sport, you'll enjoy exploring the outdoors while using a detailed map to find control points across varied terrain. Participants can choose from three course levels- White (easy, on-trail), Yellow (moderate, some off-trail), and Orange (intermediate, mostly off-trail)- ranging from 1.5 to 7 km in length. Long pants are encouraged as your adventure will take you off-trail. Please bring your own compass if you have one; a limited amount will be available to borrow. There will be a brief introductory class starting at 9:30a. Come anytime between 9:30a-12pm, participants must depart from the starting point by 12pm. Free, no registration required.
