Come help us celebrate our 75th anniversary! On Memorial Weekend 1948, the Champaign County Forest Preserve District became a reality with the opening of Lake of the Woods. That first preserve attracted  more than 2500 visitors in one weekend! Now, 75 years and six preserves later, we’re opening a special exhibit recalling all the ways the Forest Preserve District has continued to protect Champaign County’s natural and cultural resources and provide generations with enjoyment and education.
