We're expanding!
Of course, the first step in any construction project is destruction!
Thanks to a State of Illinois Public Museum Capital Grant we're adding to the south end of the museum, connecting the museum with the annex (our office building). Within the addition will be a new dedicated classroom and collections storage area.
The photo to the right shows the annex garage, a space formerly used for a workshop to build exhibits, being carefully removed from the rest of the annex building.
The tools just kept getting larger as the annex workshop was destroyed and removed with a large earthmover.
Down it goes! Hold on to your hard hat!
And the annex workshop moves into history as the site is prepared for a new building.
Moving concrete in a bucket! To get into those hard to reach places.
We're all glad that water pipes and tying into the sewer line are part of the project.
Pouring concrete for the footings.
Here's what happened first!
