We're expanding!
Thanks to a State of Illinois Public Museum Capital Grant we're adding to the south end of the museum, connecting the museum with the annex (our office building). Within the addition will be a new dedicated classroom and collections storage area.
Here are the latest construction photos.
(For earlier construction photos look here!)
Sand to fill below the slab before it is poured. Because of moisture we refilled the top several inches with gravel.
Workers install the plumbing and electrical connections before the slab is poured.
The slab is poured with a big boom operation which precisely delivers the concrete.
Workers position the boom for concrete pouring.
Smoothing the concrete. This is the floor of the new dedicated classroom.
At the same time the museum facility is receiving a sprinkler system. Workers are cutting the pipes.
And installing the pipes in the most unusual places.
